Position axes
Axes will help to position different social networks within the "Network Box©". These axes are defined as following:
From primary to secondary value of communication.
Horizontal axis with nr. -5, 0 and 5.
Primary (-5): Information transfer, productivity
Primary/Secondary (0): Combination of information transfer and a feeling of community/consent.
Secondary (5): Feeling of community/consent, social capital.
From formal to informal communication.
Vertical axis with nr. -5, 0, 5.
Business-to-business (-5): formal, structured, controlled, and businesslike.
Business-to-consumer (0): people communicate informal with each other from out a business context .
Consumer-to-consumer (5): informal, unstructured, uncontrolled, spontaneous and private. These are the personal private conversations between people.
Richness of communication.
Straight axis with letters A, 0 and R.
Poor (P -5): Flat communication. Only communication opportunities alongside internet, such as e-mail, sms, forum, blog and chat. Communication without sound and/or pictures.
Poor/Rich (PR 0): Flat communication and sound/video opportunities. This means written and spoken communication. These are tools such as avatars, skype, pod casts and the use of pictures.
Rich (R 5): Flat communication, the use of sound/video/pictures and
face-to-face communication. Beside virtual networks, there are organised physical events, by which people have face-to-face communication with eachother to.
